Your American Folk Art Museum

Dear Friend,

As Director of the American Folk Art Museum (AFAM), I thank you for giving me a few moments of your time. We hope you have enjoyed our recent online programs. From exhibition tours and live-drawing classes via Zoom to Free Music Fridays on Facebook Live, our activities have been attended by art lovers from the Bronx to Istanbul. Together we have charted new pathways across four centuries of self-taught art. And just like the admission policy at our locations in Manhattan and Queens, the museum’s online collection and scholarship are offered free to all.

While we witness a time of unprecedented change in New York and throughout the world, AFAM remains an active, accessible museum. My colleagues are rising to the occasion every week with innovative ideas that demonstrate their commitment to the museum’s community and mission. Our interns from LaGuardia Community College are working side-by-virtual-side with their museum mentors as their academic year comes to a close. The entire staff is inspired by the notion that our efforts are making a challenging time a little better.

No matter the platform or program, our drive to present self-taught art across time and place remains steadfast. Later this year, we will reopen our doors, and in 2021 we will welcome you to a celebration of our 60th anniversary.

I would be honored if you considered joining the museum as a Member. In addition to exclusive benefits, your support will sustain the museum’s online programming, enhance upcoming exhibitions at both of our locations, and extend paid internships to New York City students.

Not ready to become a Member? There are other ways to give. A contribution of any size will make a significant impact during this time. Donate today and help us remain a free resource for everyone to use and to visit.

In gratitude –

Jason T. Busch
