Sabiha Al Khemir, Board of Trustees

Sabiha Al Khemir has served on the Board of Trustees of the American Folk Art Museum since 2019. She received a degree in English Literature from the Ecole Normale Superieure in Tunis, an MA in Islamic Art and Archaeology from London University, a PhD from London University, and was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Al Khemir has worked as a consultant and curator on numerous exhibitions at museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Louvre, the Dallas Museum of Art, and the Khalili Collection of Islamic Art. She served as the Founding Director of the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, Qatar. Dr. Al Khemir’s illustrations have been featured on multiple book covers and in publications throughout the United Kingdom, France, and the United States as well as in books that she has authored, including Fables across Time: Kalila and Dimna, published by the American Folk Art Museum.
