Peter Tillou (1935 - 2021)

The American Folk Art Museum (AFAM) notes with sadness the passing of Peter Tillou. Peter played an important role in shaping the field of folk art in the United States and was amongst its most vocal and eloquent ambassadors. As a collector, his insatiable curiosity led to amazing discoveries. Peter’s knowledge of art was coupled with a marvelous sense of humor and an endearing spirit of kindness. We are honored that the Museum and its collection were enhanced by his generosity.

The Board of Trustees, AFAM’s Director and CEO Jason T. Busch, and the Museum’s Staff extend their condolences to the Tillou family.
