The American Folk Art Museum notes with sadness the loss of Joanne Siegmund, a beloved Trustee. Joanne was passionate about folk art. She became a member of the museum in 1979 and remained one her entire life, most recently as a part of the Council for Traditional Folk Art.
Joanne and her late husband Frederick owned a significant collection of early American painted furniture, boxes, fireboards, weathervanes, portraits, paintings, and quilts. Imbued with the knowledge accrued from a lifetime of collecting, Joanne contributed thoughtful ideas and valued advice to the Collections and Education Committees. Many of the Siegmunds’ gifts to the museum will be featured in its 60th anniversary exhibition in 2021.Â
The Board of Trustees and staff of the museum extend heartfelt sympathy to Joanne’s family and friends.
