The American Folk Art Museum mourns the passing of Barry D. Briskin, Trustee Emeriti and a devoted friend of the Museum. A generous supporter of the Museum and a champion of its mission, Barry was AFAM Trustee and served as the Board’s Treasurer.
Along with Joan Johnson, Barry helped establish The American Antiques Show (TAAS), which launched in January 2001 and quickly earned a respected place amongst art fairs. TAAS became a widely anticipated event for collectors of Americana throughout the country and was known for the high quality of participating exhibitors, and the dedication of AFAM’s staff and trustees. Barry’s commitment to this initiative earned the respect of many and raised important and essential funds that underscored the educational foundation of the Museum’s mission.
The Museum’s Board of Trustees, Elizabeth V. Warren, President, Jason T. Busch, Becky and Bob Alexander Director & CEO, and the Museum’s Staff offer their condolences to Jim and Barry’s family and friends.
