The American Folk Art Museum celebrates the life of Daniel Greenberg, a dutiful and generous benefactor of AFAM. In 2019, Dan, his wife Susan Steinhauser, and the Greenberg Foundation helped to launch the Museum’s Learning and Engagement Gallery. The gallery’s inaugural exhibition, commemorated during AFAM’s thirtieth anniversary at its Lincoln Square location, offered a snapshot of the Museum’s efforts over its nearly sixty-year history to advance art by the self-taught across time and place.
Dan was a passionate supporter of the visions of curators and directors at art museums from Los Angeles to Minneapolis to Pittsburgh to New York, a legacy preserved in the collections and installations that he and Susan generously donated. We extend our sincere sympathies to Susan and the Greenberg family and friends.
