AFAM for You

Dear Friend,

As Director of the American Folk Art Museum (AFAM), I thank you for giving me a few moments of your time. I hope you have been enjoying our AFAM from Home emails and exploring our online collection, exhibitions, and resources. Your thoughtful comments and creative suggestions have inspired our staff and community while we all adjust to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a free museum, AFAM relies on the generosity of donors and museum visitors to further our mission. Through the support of individuals, foundations, and other benefactors, our talented staff is able to present programs like the Folk Art Reflections series for persons living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias, as well as for their family members and care partners. We offer paid internships to students from our Queens neighbor LaGuardia Community College because we believe that our field must be shaped by a new and diverse generation of museum professionals. Families and Folk Art introduces children to our museum through tours and workshops, engaging countless visitors every month.

At this challenging time, AFAM, like many museums, is strengthening its future. I would be honored if you join the museum as a Member. In addition to exclusive benefits, your support will sustain the museum’s programming, exhibitions, and research, enabling thousands of visitors to experience the power of self-taught art across time and place.

Not ready to become a Member? There are other ways to give. If you plan to contribute, my colleagues and I are available to assist by email or phone, and can discuss the greater benefits you may receive through recent changes to charitable giving.

The American Folk Art Museum has endured for nearly six decades due to the support of individuals like you. Your contribution of any size will have an extraordinary impact for our staff and community during this unprecedented period in our history. Thank you for your consideration and please continue to take care.

In gratitude –
