American Folk Art Museum Elects New Trustees

(New York, New York) – The Board of Trustees of the American Folk Art Museum (AFAM) is pleased to announce the election of Jolie Altman and Lybra Clemons.

“I am thrilled to welcome Jolie and Lybra to the board,” said Board President Elizabeth V. Warren. “They each possess key perspectives and experience that will further our goals as we embark on an exciting chapter ahead for the Museum.”

The Museum’s Becky and Bob Alexander Director & CEO Jason T. Busch added: “It has been a pleasure to get to know Jolie and Lybra, and I look forward to working with them in the years ahead.”

Jolie Altman is an accomplished jeweler, artist, and patron of the arts. She runs both a successful jewelry design company as well as a furniture design company, with sales to major retailers such as Anthropologie, Bergdorf Goodman, and Ikram. Altman has long been a patron and appreciator of art and has a diverse art collection, including works by noted self-taught artists like Martín Ramírez, Minnie Evans, and Lee Godie.

Altman holds a Bachelor’s degree in political science and a Master’s degree in education from the University of Michigan. She lives with her husband, Dr. David Altman in Birmingham, Michigan.

Lybra S. Clemons is a seasoned C-Suite executive with 20 years of human resources, talent, culture, diversity, inclusion, and equity experience across Fortune 500 companies. She was the Global Head of Diversity & Inclusion at PayPal, where she drove culture and people integration efforts through several mergers and acquisitions into the company. Most recently, Clemons was Twilio’s first Chief Diversity Officer. Prior to taking on these roles at Twilio and PayPal, Lybra held key roles at Morgan Stanley, The Brunswick Group, and American Express.

Clemons holds a B.A. in Political Science from Spelman College, a Master of Public Administration from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, and an Executive Management degree from Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business.
