AFAM Participates in Summer Streets 2016

On Saturday, August 6, the American Folk Art Museum (AFAM) will participate in Summer Streets 2016, an event organized by the NYC Department of Transportation that closes nearly 7 miles of New York streets to all vehicles.  The car-free streets Рfrom East 72nd & Park Avenue down to Foley Square in Manhattan Рare open to play, bike, run, and have fun. Summer Streets 2016 takes place the first 3 Saturdays in August, from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm.

On the morning of August 6, AFAM will have a family Summer Streets 2016 event at Rudin Park (East 51st Street at Park Ave.) from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm.¬†Participants will handle objects from the Museum’s Touch Collection, and receive materials to create their own quilt-inspired, two dimensional artwork, focusing on shape, pattern, and color. Museum staff will also be present to answer questions about the museum’s public programming for families, students, and adults.
