Collections and Education Center

A Rare Opportunity to Go Behind the Scenes

The museum is now welcoming adult, college, and university groups for private, behind-the-scenes guided tours at the Collections and Education Center in Long Island City, Queens, where select permanent collection artwork will be displayed.

Led by experienced gallery guides and museum educators, hourlong tours at the Collections and Education Center are limited to 15 participants and available through reservation. Please make your appointment at least 4 weeks prior to your desired visit date. The museum is fully accessible and offers tours to groups with special needs; additional lead time may be necessary to arrange these tours.

Museum Galleries

Self-Guided Groups: Adults

Self-guided adult groups are encouraged to explore the museum as individual visitors; please note that outside lecturers are not permitted. There is no fee for self-guided groups. Reservations are required for groups of 10 or more, maximum 30 participants; please make your reservation at least 3–4 weeks prior to your visit.

Museum Galleries

Guided Tours: Adult and College/University Groups

Led by experienced gallery guides and museum educators, guided exhibition tours at the museum introduce groups to folk and self-taught art through discussion of themes and contexts of the art on view. Reservations are required; please make your reservation at least 3–4 weeks prior to your visit.

Fees (museum admission is free for individual, walk-in visitors; fees apply to group visits)

Adults: $10 per participant

Seniors: $8 per participant

College/University Students: $100 for every 15 participants

Museum Galleries

Self-Guided Groups: College/University

Professors from accredited colleges and universities are invited to lecture to their students in the museum. All self-guided college/university groups must consist of no more than 30 participants. Reservations are required; please make your reservation at least 1–2 weeks prior to your visit. Groups larger than 15 must divide in two.

Fees (museum admission is free for individual, walk-in visitors; fees apply to group visits)

Professor lecturing fee: $20 (flat rate)
