Artist Judith Scott concealed everyday objects under layers of wound and woven yarn and textiles, creating new and mysterious works of art. We will examine her artwork and others’ included in the exhibition Self-Taught Genius, and then make our own sculptures inspired by the artists, using a variety of unique materials.
This program introduces children ages 4 to 12 and their accompanying adults to folk art through interactive discussion-based tours in the gallery followed by hands-on artmaking activities. Gallery admission is always free. Space is limited; registration required.
Please note that this program will take place at the Self-Taught Genius Gallery in Long Island City, Queens.
