Join New York Art Therapy Association member and American Folk Art Museum Access Specialist Elizabeth Gronke on a guided tour of the current exhibition, Francesc Tosquelles: Avant-Garde Psychiatry and the Birth of Art Brut. 

This expansive show explores for the first time in the United States the legacy of WWII era Catalan psychiatrist Francesc Tosquelles and the complex intersection of art and psychotherapy. This will be an opportunity to gather in a supportive community to discuss challenging topics, such as the historical role of art therapists in relation to psychiatrists and the commodification of art made in clinical settings. The tour will include time for personal art-making, journaling and self-reflection.
