Malcah Zeldis: New York Artist
October 20, 2009–November 7, 2010, Lincoln Square Branch
Born in the Bronx in 1931 and a longtime resident of Brooklyn and Manhattan, Malcah Zeldis engagingly taps into and captures the pulse of the urban landscape. Her scenes of everyday life and biblical and historical subjects are often laced with autobiographical elements. Audacious in her color palette, Zeldis’s hues vibrate with rhythmic intensity in the thirteen paintings on view.
