Large Print & Touch Tours

For Visitors Who Are Blind or Partially Sighted

Large-print labels for all exhibitions are available in the museum galleries.

Touch Tours

Verbal Imaging and Touch Tours are available upon advance request. Museum verbal description and touch tours provide an opportunity for visitors who are blind or partially sighted and their guests to experience the richness and diversity of folk art through vivid description and a variety of tactile opportunities. Private guided tours for individuals or small groups are available upon request, but require extra lead time to arrange. Please call 212. 595. 9533, ext. 381, or e-mail education@folkartmuseum.org. The museum also participates in Art Education for the Blind’s Art Beyond Sight events. Please check the museum’s calendar for upcoming events for visitors with vision impairment.

American Sign Language

For Visitors Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing

American Sign Language interpretation for gallery tours and public programs is available upon request (free of charge), but require extra lead time to arrange. Please contact 212. 595. 9533, ext. 381, or education@folkartmuseum.org.

Wheelchair Access

For Visitors Who Use Mobility Aids

The museum is fully accessible, including restrooms and all galleries. Wheelchairs are available to use within the museum free of charge, on a first-come, first-served basis. Please inquire at the welcome desk.

Programs

Folk Art Reflections

The Museum hosts regular programs for individuals with Alzheimer’s and their family members or care partners. This series brings the world of folk art to life through conversation. This program is free and registration is required.
